Alina Liliana Beltrami

-

Loving wife, mother and “Nonnie,” Alina L. Beltrami, passed away on November 16, 2017. Born March 12, 1929, to Italian immigrants, Alina grew up in Bakersfield, California. She graduated from Bakersfield High School and attended San Jose State University, earning a GE teaching credential in 1951. She then returned to Bakersfield and worked as an elementary teacher for several years. During this time, she met Alexander (Al) Beltrami. They married on June 19, 1954, and moved to San Francisco for Al’s job with PG&E. Alina focused on their ever-growing family, raising eight children, in addition to helping care for her many grandchildren. She loved babies and children, and they loved her. Alina’s welcoming nature led to very large weekly family dinners, where she could always be found in the kitchen with her apron on cooking up delicious Italian meals. All who knew her will miss her warmth and kindness.

Alina was preceded in death by Al after 58 years of marriage. She also was preceded in death by her parents, Attilio and Olimpia Bertolaccini, and her sisters, Charlotte (Ralph), Madeline (George), Margarite, and Aurora. Alina is survived by her eight children: Monica; Teresa (Wayne); Claire (Mike); Michael (Maggie); Paul (Amy); Mary (Steven); Catherine; Laura (Aaron), twenty grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held starting at 5pm on Nov. 24th at Duggan’s Serra Mortuary, 500 Westlake Ave., Daly City, with the rosary at 6:30pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 1pm on Nov. 25th at St. Elizabeth’s Church, 449 Holyoke St., San Francisco. Burial will follow the Mass at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery in Colma. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations in Alina’s honor be given to the Alzheimer’s Association, or a child-focused charity of the donor’s choice.
