After pulling off two big comebacks, Duke became a unanimous No. 1 choice in the Associated Press Top 25 men’s basketball poll.

The Blue Devils (8-0) were atop all 65 ballots in results released Monday after they won the PK80 Invitational’s Motion Bracket in Portland, Ore. They picked up the 11 first-place votes that last week went to Arizona, with the Wildcats (3-3) turning in a stunning 0-3 showing in the Battle 4 Atlantis in the Bahamas.

That made Arizona the first team to go from No. 2 to unranked in a week since Louisville in 1986-87.

Kansas moved up to No. 2, followed by three teams that won Thanksgiving week tournaments: Michigan State (PK80 Invitational Victory Bracket), Villanova (Atlantis) and Notre Dame (Maui Invitational).

Florida was at No. 6, followed by Kentucky, Wichita State, Texas A&M and Miami to round out the top 10.

After losing two games in the Wooden Legacy tournament, St. Mary’s fell out of the rankings. The Gaels had been No. 21.

Duke rallied from 16 down to beat Texas in overtime and then from 17 down to beat the Gators in their PK80 bracket championship game Sunday night. Women’s poll: Connecticut (5-0) remained the unanimous choice at No. 1 in the Associated Press Top 25. Texas stayed No. 2, with Notre Dame, Louisville and South Carolina rounding out the top five.

Stanford fell from No. 14 to No. 16 after an overtime loss to Ohio State (now No. 8). Cal dropped from No. 21 to No. 24 after a loss to Missouri, which moved from No. 23 to No. 19. Floyd retires: UTEP head coach Tim Floyd announced his retirement after the Miners were beaten 66-52 by visiting Lamar for their fifth loss in a row.

“I'm through. I’ve retired as of today. This is my last game as a coach,” Floyd said during his postgame news conference, according to the El Paso Times.

Floyd, 63, has a 465-280 record in 24 seasons at Idaho, New Orleans, Iowa State, USC and UTEP, plus a 90-231 record as an NBA head coach in five seasons with Chicago and New Orleans.
