Adams perfect in Thunder’s win

-

Oklahoma City’s Steven Adams scored 27 points on 11-for-11 shooting from the field and Paul George had 35 points and nine assists as the Thunder beat visiting Minnesota 111107 on Friday night to snap a three-game losing streak.

Russell Westbrook added 15 points, 14 assists and nine rebounds for Oklahoma City.

The Thunder shot 51.9 percent from the field and outrebounded the Timberwolves 42-26.

It was the Thunder’s first win by fewer than nine points this season. All but two of their 12 losses have been by nine points or fewer. This time, the Thunder made the tweaks coach Billy Donovan has been seeking all season.

“I think we checked all the boxes down the stretch,” George said. “Played great team defense to close the game out. We made our free throws. We just had a winning mentality, and it resulted in a win for us.”

Karl-Anthony Towns and Andrew Wiggins scored 23 points each and Jimmy Butler added 22 for the Timberwolves, who shot 51.3 percent.

Oklahoma City posted its highest-scoring quarter of the season to lead 42-33 after one period.

The Heat went on a 9-0 run in the final moments to decide things, with a three-pointer by Waiters with 1:09 left for a 102-96 lead being perhaps the biggest shot for Miami.
