Angela McLaughlin, of Sonoma, passed away after a brief but fierce battle with Mesothelioma. She was Born in London, England and immigrated to the Richmond District of San Francisco at the age of two with her father and mother, Patrick and Isabel McLaughlin. Angela attended St. Thomas the Apostle Grammar School and graduated from Star of the Sea Academy in 1970.

Angela is survived by her three children, Jeff Kolsut, his wife Anna and sons Joe and Jared; Joanie Schlampp, her husband Pete and children Isabel and August; Suzie Kolsut and sons Adam and Gabriel Schaus. She also leaves behind four beloved siblings, Peter McLaughlin, Danny McLaughlin, Ann Marie Hicks, and Marguerite Campione (Bunky) as well as ten treasured nieces and nieces and nephews and three great nieces and nephews.

Angela thrived in situations that enabled her to help and mentor others. While raising her three children, Angela began a career at Sonoma Developmental Center as an art instructor. She soon followed the path of nursing like her mother, Isabel and graduated from nursing school at Napa Valley College in 1988. She took many young nurses under her wing, always offering guidance as they learned the art of nursing. After retiring, she continued to give back to the Sonoma community, serving as a mentor to school children.

Angela was a music lover who loved to attend concerts with friends and family. She was a traveler, with a special love for New York City and Maui, both of which she visited often. Angela especially loved her family. She kept close relationships with her children, grandchildren, and siblings and never missed a chance to gather with family visiting from Ireland. Most recently, Angela rediscovered her talent as an artist and painted many beautiful pictures for family and friends and displayed her work at Salute to the Arts in Sonoma.

She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother sister, aunt, and friend. She will live in our hearts forever.

Her family invites you to celebrate her life on December 3, 2017, at 1:30 pm at the Fairmont, Sonoma Mission Inn, Sonoma Valley Room.

Donations in her name can be made to Sonoma Valley Mentoring Alliance, 916 First St. West, Sonoma, Ca. 95476
