Beverly (Bev) Castagna , of San Francisco, CA passed on November 24, 2017 at St Mary’s Hospital in San Francisco. She was 71 years old. Bev was born January 4, 1946 in San Francisco and attended Presentati­on High School and San Francisco State University. While Bev spent the middle of her life in Marin County, she was a true San Francisco girl, having grown up in and spending the last 20 years of her life in the City.

Bev leaves behind her loving husband Paul Castagna and her three adored children, Jeff, Ryan and Tracy, as well as her Son and Daughter in law, Casey Benjamin and Allison Chayo Castagna. Her grandchild­ren, Camden Castagna and Cooper Benjamin were the lights of her life. Bev is predecease­d by her father, Andrew Durmanich and her sister, Marilyn Scott.

Bev lived a passionate and enriched life, not only devoting her time to her family, but also to charitable causes, creating a scholarshi­p foundation at Marin Catholic High School for several students and volunteeri­ng as a Godmother at the Timothy Murphy School, where she was affectiona­tely known as the “Candy Lady.”

Bev left an indelible impression on everyone she encountere­d and she exhibited love, compassion and integrity in nearly every interactio­n she had. She took an active interest in every individual whose path she crossed, making it her life’s mission to enrich their lives.

An Memorial Service will be held at Sts. Peter and Paul’s Church of San Francisco on December 7 at 12:30 p.m. The family kindly asks that you submit donations to the Timothy Murphy school in lieu of flowers.
