-

Robert Joseph “Bob” Kenneth died peacefully on October 12, 2017, surrounded by his family. Bob was born on April 22, 1936 in Cicero IL, the only child of Joseph and Margaret (Blake) Kenneth. Although he was raised without many material possessions, Bob was rich in the friendship of a tightknit group of Cicero boys who maintained their close ties throughout his lifetime.

As a young man, Bob left Cicero to make his mark on the world. Starting in 1963, he spent two formative years traveling the world as a Merchant Marine aboard the USS Pioneer. Bob settled in San Francisco, a city he had grown to truly love and where he lived for the duration of his life. In 1965, mutual friends conspired to introduce Bob to Hester (Young) Kenneth. It was love at first sight. The two married in 1966, and built a wonderful life together, filled with family, friends, appreciation of art, and travel.

Bob lived a life of extraordinary generosity, and would have literally given the shirt off his back if needed. He forged strong friendships with people from all walks of life and generally approached his life with of good dose of humor. Bob was an optimistic entrepreneur who founded Kenneth Associates in 1972. Bob was eternally civic minded and sat on numerous boards and supported many organizations whose missions aligned with causes close to his heart.

He leaves behind his son Dan Kenneth; his son Greg Kenneth, wife Laurie and granddaughter Taylor; his daughter Molly Kenneth, wife Claire and grandson River. He was preceded in death by the love of his life, his wife Hester Kenneth in 2012. He also leaves behind countless friends across the country whose lives he touched with his sense of humor, love of the absurd and generous heart.

A memorial will be held on December 9, 2017 at 11:30 a.m. at The Spinnaker in Sausalito.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks for any donations to be made to The San Francisco Zoo. http://www. sfzoo.org/support/donate/ donate.html
