When: 10 a.m. TV/Radio: 2t / 680, 107.7 Spotlight on: CB Ahkello Witherspoon: The rookie third-round pick’s sixth career start will include his biggest challenge: DeAndre Hopkins. The Pro Bowl WR ranks fifth in the NFL in catches (77), third in receiving yards (1,084) and is tied for first in touchdowns (nine). Hopkins has continued to flourish since dynamic rookie QB Deshaun Watson (torn ACL) was sidelined and replaced by Tom Savage. Hopkins has 32 catches for 478 yards and two touchdowns in five games since Watson was injured. Injury notes: 49ers — RT Trent Brown (shoulder) is questionable but is expected to start after he played through his injury last weekend. Texans — WR Braxton Miller (concussion) is out; G Xavier Su'a-Filo (groin) is questionable.

THE BIG 3

The 49ers have lost seven straight road games against AFC teams. The streak began after they beat Jacksonville, 42-10, on Oct. 27, 2013, in London in a home game for the Jaguars.

QB Jimmy Garoppolo can become the fourth active QB to win his first four career starts, joining New Orleans’ Drew Brees (2002), Pittsburgh’s Ben Roethlisberger (2004) and Denver’s Trevor Siemian (2016).

Texans DE Jadeveon Clowney is the only NFL player to have at least five tackles, two sacks and three tackles for loss in two games this season. He ranks ninth in the NFL in sacks (nine).
