Warren Cleveland Wachs, 97, died November 6, 2017, at his residence in San Francisco. Mr. Wachs was born July 22, 1920, in Lexington, KY, to Fred B. Wachs, Sr. and Jeanne F. Wachs. He was predecease­d by his parents and his brother, Fred B. Wachs, Jr. He was the beloved uncle of Katherine W. Reynolds (Bruce), Fred B. Wachs III (Rita), William W. Wachs (Nancy), all of Lexington, KY, Diane C. Wachs, of Cincinnati, OH, Susan W. Oldfield, of Charlottes­ville, VA, Jeanne W. Bradford (Jeff), of Nashville, TN, and D. Wickliffe Wachs (Jane), of Augusta, KY, Also surviving are his sister-inlaw, Darothy S. Wachs, Lexington, KY, his Goddaughte­r, Sally H. Riden, Vallejo, CA, fifteen great nieces and nephews, and eight great, great nieces and nephews.

Mr. Wachs graduated from The Lawrencevi­lle School, Lawrencevi­lle, NJ, and Princeton University, Princeton, NJ. He served in World War II in the Pacific theater and afterwards returned to Princeton to earn a Master Degree in Architectu­re. Mr. Wachs practiced architectu­re in San Francisco, retiring in 1983 to follow his passion as an antiquaria­n. He was a collector of 18th century English furniture and Asian ceramics, and a great aficionado of Baroque music. He donated much of his collection­s to museums across the country.

The family is very grateful to the staff at the Sequoias Health Center for their excellent care, and to Liz Strand who loyally assisted him for the last decade of his life. Memorial services will be held Tuesday, Dec. 12, 2017, at 1:30 pm, at Calvary Presbyteri­an Church, 2515 Fillmore St., San Francisco, with a reception following. A private interment will be at the Lexington Cemetery, Lexington, KY.
