Faye was born in Sheboygan, Wisconsin, attended Marion College and the University of Wisconsin in Madison where she received her MA specializing in Chinese history. She cared deeply for her students not only teaching them subject matter, but also providing a safe and nurturing environment. Faye mentored new teachers, many of whom became lifelong friends. Faye was always learning and went to China in 1981on a Fulbright scholarship to continue her studies in Chinese history.

Upon retiring, Faye practiced her other passions. She enjoyed writing short stories, children’s books and even a novel.
