Phillies, Santana agree at $60 million, 3 years

- CHRONICLE NEWS SERVICES Catcher Jose Lobaton and the New York Mets have agreed to a minor-league contract.

Carlos Santana is bringing his big bat and postseason experience to Philadelph­ia.

The first baseman became the first of the offseason’s bigname free agents to find a new home, reportedly agreeing Friday to a three-year, $60 million deal with the Phillies.

Santana, 31, became the first to reach a deal among the nine free agents who last month rejected $17.4 million qualifying offers from their former teams.

Philadelph­ia also traded shortstop Freddy Galvis to San Diego for minor-league pitcher Enyel De Los Santos.

Santana hit 23 home runs with 79 RBIs for Cleveland, where he spent all eight of his big-league seasons.

He has four homers and eight RBIs in 21 career postseason games.

A’s outfielder Dustin Fowler, acquired from the Yankees in July, has filed suit against the White Sox over a season-ending knee injury he suffered June 29, the Chicago SunTimes reported. Fowler was hurt when he ran into an unpadded electrical box along the right-field line at Chicago’s Guaranteed Rate Field. His suit seeks unspecifie­d damages.

All-Star infielder Zack Cozart agreed to a three-year, $38 million contract with the Los Angeles Angels. Cozart, 32, has a .254 average in seven bigleague seasons, all with Cincinnati, and was a first-time All-Start this year. He hit .297 with 24 homers and 63 RBIs. Reliever Hector Rondon agreed to an two-year, $8.5 millionr contract with the Houston Astros. The righthande­r spent the past five years with the Chicago Cubs, where he went 18-13 with a 3.22 ERA and 77 saves.
