Patrick John Hogan

Patrick John Hogan passed away on December 4, 2017, of a stroke. He was 67 years old. He is survived by his two sons Patrick Edward Hogan of Washington, District of Columbia, and Michael John Hogan of New Orleans, Louisiana, and his siblings Dennis Hogan, Michael Hogan, and Mimi Holob.

Pat was born in Los Angeles, California on January 31, 1950, to Edward and Martha Hogan. He grew up in San Jose, California, attended Bellarmine College Preparator­y there, and studied theology and law at the University of San Francisco. He practiced law in a variety of capacities, including with Tarkington O’Connor & O’Neil, Kenney & Markowitz, LLC, and Gordon & Rees in San Francisco, and later with the Federal Emergency Management Agency.

Pat lived in the San Francisco Bay Area for most of his adult life. In 1989, he married Susan Marie Hogan, with whom he had Patrick and Michael. Although the couple ultimately divorced, Pat moved to Baltimore,

Maryland to be closer to his children. In 2011, Pat retired and moved to Pompano Beach, Florida.

Pat was kind and gregarious, and made friends wherever he went. He loved music and the ocean and spent much of his free time playing guitar or out on the water. He is and will be sorely missed.

A memorial mass will be held for Pat on Friday, February 2, 2018, at 2 p.m., at St. Ignatius Parish, 650 Parker Avenue, San Francisco, California, with a reception for family and friends to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Catholic Charities USA.
