Elinore Green

Elinore Green, known affectiona­tely by her grandchild­ren and great grandchild­ren as “Mimi”, passed away peacefully in her sleep in her home in San Francisco.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years of marriage, Morris Green.

Ellie was born in San Francisco and lived most of her life in the Marina district in San Francisco. She attended Lowell High School and the University of California at Berkeley, where she met Morrie on the steps of Wheeler Hall. She went on to complete her Masters Degree at San Francisco State, and her PhD in Psychology from the Wright Institute in Berkeley.

Ellie had a close circle of friends that spanned multiple generation­s, and was deeply connected to many friends she had made in childhood years. She deeply loved her family, and was a vital and important part of all family adventures and gatherings. She was devoted to her children and her grandchild­ren. She was a huge fan of San Francisco sports: the 49er football team,( especially Joe Montana), the Warriors Basketball team, (especially Steph Curry), the SF Giants, and the California Golden Bears. She loved to travel and recently explored Italy on a 3 week excursion. Lake Tahoe was a constant in her life; she spent years skiing in the winter and water-skiing in the summer. Ellie was passionate about dogs, and was successful in training and showing her Golden Retrievers to National levels in both obedience and field competitio­n. She was passionate about learning and furthering her education. She was an avid bridge player and reader, was involved in competitio­n bridge and a monthly book group, enjoyed the symphony and theater with seasonal tickets to both.

Survived by her children Jeff Green (Janie Green), Diane Green and Nancy Gallagher, and her grandchild­ren Jennifer Green (Ryan Helmstetle­r), Alison Bradshaw (Drexel Bradshaw), Tyler Bewley (Marcella Bewley), Ashley Gallagher, Lindsay Gallagher and Keely Gallagher and her great-grandchild­ren Madeline, Abigail and Tala.

Services will be held on Thursday, January 4 at 12 pm at Congregati­on EmanuEl, 2 Lake Street, San Francisco. Interment will follow at Hills of Eternity Memorial Park, 1301 El Camino Real, Colma.
