Sun Devils dealt 2nd loss after 12-win run

Namon Wright scored five of his 19 points in overtime, including two on free throws at the end, and host Colorado beat No. 4 Arizona State 90-81 on Thursday night.

Down 11-0 early, the Buffaloes (9-6, 1-2 Pac-12) steadily whittled away and opened a six-point lead with 1:17 left in regulation. But the Sun Devils (12-2, 0-2) stormed back, with Mickey Mitchell tying the game at 74 with five seconds left on an emphatic dunk.

In overtime, the Buffaloes hit six straight free throws down the stretch. It is the highestran­ked team Colorado has beaten since knocking off No. 3 Texas in 2003. Colorado fans stormed the court to celebrate.

McKinley Wright added 19 points and George King chipped in 18 as Colorado snapped a three-game skid.

Tra Holder had 24 points for Arizona State before fouling out in OT. Mitchell added 10 rebounds before he fouled out. The Sun Devils, who lost at Arizona on Saturday, have dropped two straight after reeling off 12 wins in a row.

#1 Michigan State 91, Maryland 61:

Miles Bridges had 15 points, seven assists, six rebounds and two blocks to help the Spartans (15-1, 3-0 Big Ten) pull away from the visiting Terrapins (13-4, 2-2), who had won seven straight. Maryland’s Anthony Cowman scored 26 points. Michigan State hit 16 three-pointers.

#9 Wichita State 81, Houston 63:

Landry Shamet scored 18 points in just 22 minutes to lead the Shockers (12-2, 2-0 American Athletic Conference) at home. Wichita State made nine of its first 11 three-point shots and led by as many as 25 in the first half. Rob Gray led Houston (12-3, 2-1) with 13 points, six below his average.

#14 Arizona 94, Utah 82:

Deandre Ayton scored 24 points and grabbed 14 rebounds for the visiting Wildcats (12-3, 2-0 Pac-12), who have won nine straight. Rawle Atkins finished with 22 points for Arizona and Parker Jackson-Cartwright added 19. Sedrick Barefield led Utah (10-4, 2-1) with 23 points and David Collette added 19.

#19 Cincinnati 55, Temple 53:

The visiting Bearcats (13-2, 2-0 American) rallied to win their sixth straight. The Owls (7-7, 0-3) led by two when a turnover and an offensive foul prompted coach Fran Dunphy to smash a water bottle on the scorer’s table and earn a technical. Gary Clark made one of two free throws to cut the Bearcats’ deficit to one. Kyle Washington put Cincinnati ahead 52-50 on a three-pointer from the wing and Jacob Evans hit a jumper with 0.4 seconds left to win it.

#19 Gonzaga 89, Pepperdine 59:

Killian rebounds Tillie to had lead 22 Gonzaga points and (13-3, eight 3-0 WCC) in Malibu. Johnathan Williams scored 13 points and Rui Hachimura had 12 points and six rebounds for the visitors. Pepperdine (3-12, 0-3) was outscored 48-14 in the paint.

Santa Clara 65, Loyola Marymout 49:

KJ Feagin scored 22 points for the visiting Broncos, who grabbed an early lead and pulled away steadily in Los Angeles. Santa Clara (5-10, 2-1 WCC) has won six of the past eight meetings with the Lions (5-9, 0-3). Henry Caruso (Serra High) and Josep Vrankic each scored 13 for the Broncos.

San Diego 81, Portland 74:

Isaiah Wright scored 30 points to lead the visiting Toreros (12-3, 3-0 WCC) to an overtime win. The Pilots (6-10, 0-3) got 13 points from Tahirou Diabate and 15 rebounds from Philipp Hartwich.

WOMEN #2 Notre Dame 83, Miami 76:

Marina Mabrey scored 21 points and Arike Ogunbowale had 20 despite struggling from the field for the Irish (14-1, 3-0 ACC) against the visiting Hurricanes (11-4, 1-1).

#3 Louisville 66, #17 Duke 60:

Asia Durr had 22 points and returned from a first-half leg injury to grab a key rebound that helped the host Cardinals (17-0, 3-0 ACC) survive a fourthquar­ter rally by the Blue Devils (11-4, 0-2).

#4 South Carolina 88, Mississipp­i 62:

A’Ja Wilson had 25 points and 15 rebounds for the visiting Gamecocks (13-1, 2-0 SEC), who put away the Rebels (10-5, 0-2) with a 29-12 run.

#5 Mississipp­i State 111, Arkansas 69:

Victoria Vivians scored 29 points, Morgan William added 18 as the Bulldogs (16-0, 2-0 SEC) beat the Razorbacks (10-5, 1-1), who got 15 points from Jailyn Mason.

#7 Tennessee 70, Auburn 59:

Jaime Nared scored 19, Evina Westbrook made a tie-breaking basket with 1:43 left and the Lady Vols (14-0, 2-0 SEC) outlasted the visiting Tigers (10-4, 1-1).

#10 Ohio State 91, Minnesota 75:

Stephanie Mavunga scored 25 points and Kelsey Mitchell added 21 for the Buckeyes (13-2, 2-0 Big Ten) in their home victory over the Gophers (12-4, 1-2).

BYU 70, USF 66:

The visiting Dons (6-8, 1-2 WCC), who led 60-59 in the final minutes, were led by Kalyn Simon (19 points), Michaela Rakova (16 points, 19 rebounds) and Anna Seilund (16 points, seven assists). The Cougars (7-7, 2-1) got 23 points from Malia Nawahine and 18 from Cassie Devashraye­e.

Loyola Marymount 65, Santa Clara 51:

The Lions (11-3, 3-0 WCC) used a 22-4 second-quarter run to take control on the home court of the Broncos (4-10, 0-3). Santa Clara missed 10 of 12 shots in that decisive period. The Broncos got a game-high 11 points from Dru Toleafoa and nine points and 11 rebounds from Morgan McGwire.

St. Mary’s 70, Pacific 69:

Sydney Raggio scored 20 points and grabbed nine rebounds to lead the Gaels (9-5, 2-1) past the host Tigers (6-8, 0-3).
