Hutton ends Vegas’ win streak at 8

Carter Hutton isn’t playing like a backup goalie for the St. Louis Blues. He’s playing like one of the game’s best.

Paul Stastny broke a third-period tie, Hutton continued his hot play in goal and host St. Louis beat the Vegas Golden Knights 2-1 on Thursday night for their third straight win. Vegas’ NHL expansion record eight-game winning streak snapped.

Hutton made 32 saves, including two tough stops early in the third while the game was tied. “Some of the saves he’s making — probably the last three games, he’s got six that should be in the top 10 this year,” Blues wing Alexander Steensaid.

Canadiens 2, Lightning 1:

Carey Price made 44 saves, Paul Byron scored the only goal in a shootout and host Montreal ended a five-game skid.

Hurricanes 4, Penguins 0:

Sebastian Aho scored twice and Carolina sent host Pittsburgh to its eighth loss in 12 games.

Flyers 6, Islanders 4:

Ivan Provorov had two goals and an assist, and Sean Couturier had a goal, an assist and participat­ed in one of several fights for host Philadelph­ia.

Wild 6, Sabres 2:

Nino Niederreit­er had a hat trick in his return from injury for host Minnesota.

Stars 4, Devils 3:

Tyler Seguin scored his teamleadin­g 20th goal and Alexander Radulov had a goal and two assists for host Dallas.

Avalanche 2, Blue Jackets 0:

Jonathan Bernier had 18 of his 34 saves in the third period to give host Colorado its fourth straight win.

Flames 4, Kings 3:

Michael Ferlin had a goal and an assist in a four-goal second period for host Calgary.

Oilers 2, Ducks 1:

Ryan Nugent-Hopkins scored the shootout winner as host Edmonton snapped a four-game skid.

Coyotes 3, Predators 2:

Christian Fischer scored off Jakob Chychrun’s rebound at 2:41 of overtime to cap host Arizona’s comeback victory.
