Ionescu has 35 but Ducks fall
Walnut Creek’s Sabrina Ionescu had a career-high 35 points for No. 7 Oregon, but No. 18 Oregon State got seven three-pointers and 34 points from Kat Tudor and beat the Ducks 85-79 in Corvallis on Friday to end Oregon’s ninegame winning streak.
Marie Gulich added 28 points and 15 rebounds for the Beavers (14-4, 5-2 Pac-12), who extended their Civil War rivalry winning streak over the Ducks to 14 games.
Ionescu’s three-pointer with 3.5 seconds left at the end of regulation sent the game into overtime.
Gulich’s turnaround jumper with 1:42 left in the extra period gave the Beavers an 80-77 lead. She made one free throw to extend the lead.
Ionescu made two of three foul shots to close the Ducks (17-3, 6-1) within 81-79, but Katie McWilliams made a three-pointer and a free throw with 15 seconds left to put it out of reach. Utah 58, #22 Arizona State 56: The Utes rallied from an 11-point deficit to start the fourth quarter and handed the Sun Devils their first home loss of the season. Megan Huff had 16 points and 14 rebounds for Utah (13-5, 4-3), which outscored Arizona State 26-13 in the final quarter. Torri Williams added 10 points, four coming on free throws in the final 18.4 seconds. It was the third straight loss for the Sun Devils (13-6, 4-3 Pac-12). Robbi Ryan scored 16 points for Arizona State but missed what would have been a tying three-pointer in the final seconds. Williams’ two free throws with 2.6 seconds left sealed the victory. Arizona 72, Colorado 63: Guard JaLea Bennett scored 23 points to lead the host Wildcats (5-13, 1-6 Pac-12) to the win. The Buffaloes (11-7, 2-5) got 26 points from guard Alexis Robinson.

#9 Michigan State 85, Indiana 57: Miles Bridges scored 22 points and Nick Ward had 18 points and 13 rebounds to help the Spartans bounce back at home. Michigan State (17-3, 5-2 Big Ten) had a confidence-boosting performance after going from a top-ranked team to a reeling one. They were slumping after a 16-point loss at Ohio State, an overtime win over Rutgers and an 82-72 setback to Michigan at home. The Hoosiers (11-8, 4-3) lost for the first time in four games, falling into a fourthplace tie with Michigan and Nebraska. Michigan State took control with an 18-0 run midway through the first half. Cassius Winston had 10 points, eight assists and only one turnover and Jaren Jackson had 10 points, six rebounds, three blocks and three assists for the Spartans.
