Fitz Lloyd George Brown

-

Passed away peacefully on January 4, 2018 at the age of 55. Fitz-Lloyd George Brown was born on December 3, 1962 at Jubilee Hospital in Kingston Jamaica to the parents of George Brown and Ivy Annette Williams. He is survived by his wife Denise, his sister Sherry-Dawn Brown, his mother-in-law Midge Lingvai Patch, his brother-in-law Dave (Sheila) Patch, nephew Brenden and niece Katherine.

George grew up in Jamaica attending Central Branch Grammar School where he took the island wide Common Entrance Examination for High School. He received a position to attend Kingston College, one of the top 5 schools on the island, and in the top two of the boy’s only school on the island. After completing high school at the age of 16 he moved to the United States. As he was too young to attend college he started working at a family friend’s insurance company. He entered as a file clerk and when he left he had worked his way up to a claims examiner in the automotive department. When he was old enough, he applied for admittance to SUNY at Albany and was accepted. He attended college for 2 years before he listened to his inner voice and ‘went west;’ it was also a way of fleeing the cold northeast. He moved to Los Angeles in 1985 where he began to work for Trans America – that was where he became interested in the finance industry and began his training to become a Certified Financial Planner. While living in South Pasadena he became a Reserve Officer for the City of Rio Hondo and the Coast Guards. Somewhere along the way he acquired a Private Investigator license and worked on and off at that profession over the years. He moved to San Francisco when an opportunity presented itself for him to work with MetLife and then transitioned into ING. He worked with the municipal workers of the City and County of San Francisco, mostly police and firemen, as an advisor for their retirement. He truly loved meeting with his clients, whether it was in an office, at a precinct, the airport, a café or on the golf course.

George was an amazing man who fought courageously and never gave up. His infectious smile lit up a room. He lived life to the fullest and never turned down a round of golf; unless it was cold out. He would say it was because of his Jamaican blood.

Special thanks to George’s caregiver, Angie, for the tender and loving care she provided. Special thanks also goes to the staff at Kaiser Permanente and the Forbes Norris clinic, who always treated George with respect and dignity.

Friends may visit on Thursday, January 25, 2018 at 4pm and attend a Celebration of Life on Friday, January 26, 2018 at 11am at Duggan’s Serra Mortuary, 500 Westlake Avenue, Daly City. Private Internment Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Golden West Chapter of ALSA (webgw.alsa.org) in memory of George Brown.
