Born to Bertha and Leonard Zimmermann October 2, 1914 in San Francisco, and passed away peacefully on January 16, 2018, in San Francisco.

Josephine graduated from St. John’s High School in San Francisco. She then graduated from St. Joseph’s Hospital School of Nursing, and became an instructor at that institute until 1974. During her time at St. Joseph’s, she also earned a B.A. Degree at Lone Mountain College. Josephine finished her nursing career in 1982 at St. Luke’s Hospital.

Josephine was known for her kindness and concern for others. She was always willing to accept what life had to offer her. Josephine faced enormous challenges as a young widow raising three children, and she did this with dignity and courage. In life, she gave more than she received. Despite this, she had a long, full, successful, amazing life. Throughout her life, she was extremely independent, hard-working, selfdisciplined, intelligent, and maintained a remarkable sense of perspective of self and the world around her. She was devoted to her family and to the Catholic faith and its principles.

Josephine’s undying faith in God and in the goodness of humanity led her to embrace simple pleasures as blessing and she shared what she had with others. Her kindness and generosity touched countless people, and her memory will continue to provide her family and friends with the love and support she gave during her life.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Benjamin Levy, and is survived by her three children Margaret, Patricia, and Benjamin, as well as many grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

No services will be held at Josephine’s request.
