Avalanche roll uphill: 10 straight wins

Blake Comeau scored the go-ahead goal with 7:43 left and Colorado beat the Maple Leafs 4-2 in Toronto on Monday night for its 10th straight win.

Comeau beat a backchecki­ng Auston Matthews to the net and redirected Carl Soderberg’s feed past goalie Frederik Andersen to put Colorado ahead 3-2. Gabriel Landeskog added an empty-netter in the final minute to seal it.

Gabriel Bourque and Nail Yakupov also scored for the Avalanche, who have surged into a crowded race for the two West wild cards. Jonathan Bernier made 29 saves for his ninth straight win in place of injured Semyon Varlamov. Lightning Vasilevski­y NHL-best seventh 2, made Blackhawks 40 shutout, saves 0: in Chris his Andrei Kunitz scored a shorthande­d goal in the second period and visiting Tampa Bay ended a season-high threegame skid. Yanni Gourde also scored to help the Lightning leapfrog idle Vegas for the best record in the NHL. Eichel onetimed a pass from Rasmus Ristolaine­n for his 19th of the season, extending his point streak to six games. Matthew Tkachuk scored for the Flames, who are 7-0-2 in their past nine. Wild 3, Senators 1: Jason Zucker scored for the fourth straight game and former Sharks goalie Alex Stalock made 37 saves to lead host Minnesota. Zach Parise and Mikael Granlund also scored to help the Wild improve to 4-0-2 in their past six games. Matt Duchene scored his seventh goal for Ottawa. Red Wings 3, Devils 0: Petr Mrazek had 37 saves in his second straight shutout as visiting Detroit beat slumping New Jersey, which has two wins in its past 10 games. Tyler Bertuzzi, David Booth and Dylan Larkin scored for the Red Wings.
