A 65-year-old woman killed in a murder-suicide last week in San Francisco’s Sunset District was gunned down by her estranged husband, according to officials and court records.

The victim, identified by the city medical examiner as Nellie Hue, was shot multiple times around 4:30 p.m. Friday in the driveway of a home on the 1800 block of 34th Avenue near Ortega Street, police said. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police identified her estranged husband, 67-year-old Winston Hue, as the gunman.

Court records show that Nellie Hue lived in Reno and had filed for divorce Oct. 23. A judge granted a temporary restraining order against her husband a week later, according to court filings from Washoe County, Nevada.

Shortly after Nellie Hue was shot Friday, San Francisco police sent out warnings for citizens to be on the lookout for the “armed and dangerous” suspect. Five hours later, officers located Winston Hue holed up inside his blue Kia Sol at 47th Avenue and Lincoln Way along Golden Gate Park near Ocean Beach.

Hostage negotiators tried to get him to surrender, but he turned the gun on himself, police said. He was pronounced dead at the scene from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Police did not elaborate on the circumstances or motive for the killing.

The home where Nellie Hue was killed is owned by her family, records show.
