McPhee leads Stanford by No. 16 Oregon State

Stanford’s Brittany McPhee had 18 points and 12 rebounds and scored her team’s last four points as the No. 24 Cardinal held on to beat No. 16 Oregon State 60-57 on Friday.

Visiting Stanford (15-8, 9-2 Pac-12) led 51-42 on DiJonai Carrington’s layup with 7:58 left in the game. Oregon State’s Mikayla Pivec made two free throws at 1:17, and Taya Corosdale split a pair at 53 seconds to cut the Beavers’ deficit to 59-57.

McPhee made one of two free throws with 7.7 seconds left, and Carrington stole the ball from Kat Tudor on the final play of the game.

Kiana Williams added 14 points and Alanna Smith scored 11 for the Cardinal, who were 2-for-19 from three-point range but had 17 offensive rebounds and a 44-35 edge on the glass overall.

Katie McWilliams hit four three-pointers and scored 16 points to lead the Beavers (16-6, 7-4). #9 UCLA 59, USC 46: Monique Billings got the 40th double-double of her career with 14 points and 16 rebounds as the host Bruins (18-4, 9-2 Pac-12) beat the Trojans (15-7, 5-6). Washington State 78, Arizona 60: Borislava Hristova scored 17 points as the visiting Cougars (10-13, 3-8 Pac-12) beat the Wildcats (5-17, 1-10), who were led by JaLea Bennett’s 24 points. Arizona State 61, Washington 41: Courtney Ekmark had 15 points as the host Sun Devils (16-7, 7-4 Pac-12) handled the Huskies (7-15, 1-10).

#22 Rhode Island 81, VCU 68: E.C. Matthews scored 18 points and Jared Terrell had 16 as visiting Rhode (19-3, 11-0 Atlantic 10) beat VCU (14-9, 6-4). Colorado 67, Utah 55: McKinley Wright scored 21 points as the host Buffaloes (13-10, 5-6 Pac-12) held off the Utes (13-9, 5-6).
