be watching the record books all weekend. San Francisco’s forecast high on Saturday is 73 degrees. The record for the date, set in 1991, is 71.

Oakland’s temperatures could also set records over the weekend, with forecast highs of 74 degrees on Saturday and 72 on Sunday. Records for those dates are 70 and 69.

Livermore’s forecast high on Saturday, 75 degrees, would break a record of 74 set in 1906.

The South Bay will be unusually warm, too. The forecast highs in Half Moon Bay for Saturday and Sunday are both above the records for those dates.

San Jose is expected to reach 76 degrees again Saturday, compared with record highs of 73.

Temperatures in some places around the North Bay might break records as well. In Napa, the forecast high for Sunday is 73 degrees. The record for that date, set in 2001, is 72.

The wave of warmth comes after scientists reported that 44 percent of the state is experiencing at least moderate drought conditions.

While the worst conditions are in Southern California, the snowpack in the Sierra Nevada that drives the state’s water supply is anemic. On Thursday, hydrologists measured the snow level south of Lake Tahoe at just 13 percent of average for the date.

Since record-keeping for snowpack began in 1946, there have been just two worse years: 2014 and 1963.

Sims said the hot and dry weather will continue into next week.

“There are no storms on the horizon, at least through next week,” she said. “It’ll just be sunny and mild.”
