Robert James Holmes

Robert James Holmes, 78, completed his mortal mission on December 19, 2017 surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Akron, Ohio, he was the youngest son of James Young Holmes and Mary Brigid King. His family moved to California in 1945. He attended St James School where he served as an alter boy. He graduated from Sacred Heart High School and joined the National Guard. He discovered his passion for photography early and utilized his talent throughout his life. He enjoyed a rewarding career as a senior investigator at the San Francisco District Attorney’s office and after retiring opened a successful private practice.

He was a proud Scot who loved spending time with his family and traveling and was loved by all who crossed his path. He was known for his prodigious storytelling and his fierce desire to always do right by those he held dear.

He is survived by his sons Michael (Margret), Gregory (Clara), Michael Powell (Fini), Eric (Jonah) and his daughter Gretchen (Anthony) and his adoring grandchildren Toriana, Celina (Denton), Hayli, Samantha, Ryan, Hanna, Patricia, Katrina, Nicole, Kayla (Alexander), Christopher, Trevor and great grandson, Robert. He is preceded in death by his brother, John and the love of his life and wife of 40 years, Jerri Lu.

Funeral services will be private.
