Rose Margaret Lee Chan passed away peacefully on February 1, 2018 in San Francisco at the age of 95. She was born in Taishan, China on May 5, 1922 and immigrated to the United States in 1926 at the age of four. She was married to Albert Chan for 75 years and was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

Rose lived in San Francisco and Redwood City before having the opportunity to live in London for thirteen years. She travelled around the world and developed an extensive background in cultural studies. She was well-versed in art history and enjoyed Chinese opera, art, and antiques.

Upon returning to San Francisco, Rose devoted much of her time as a volunteer docent at the Asian Art Museum housed within the De Young Museum. The tours she gave at the museum reflected her love of Chinese history and lore. She was a talented knitter and seamstress who made her own clothes on par with the latest fashions of the time.

Rose is survived by her husband Albert; three children Valerie, Sharon, and Jeffrey (Sue); grandchildren Christopher (Colleen), Andrew (Michelle), Elaine (Joseph), Marilee (David), and Daryl (Julie); greatgrandchildren Jack, Joseph, Tiffany, Dustin, Taylor, Ethan, Jonathan, Jaden, Jordan, Grant, Avery, Coraline, and Noah; her sisters Jane, Marion (Robert), Elizabeth (David), and Tamara; her brother in-law Robert H. Chan (Sara); and numerous nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are welcome to celebrate the life of Rose at her service on Friday, February 9, 2018 at 1:00 PM in the chapel of Woodlawn Memorial Park and Funeral Home located at 1000 El Camino Real, Colma CA 94014.
