Enjoy specialty wines on your next Alaska Airlines flight

-

Did you know that food and wine tastes different when flying at 35,000 feet? In fact, your taste buds are slightly dulled due to pressurized, drier cabin air.

On Alaska Airlines flights, we’ve made sure that hitting cruising altitude doesn’t lessen your enjoyment of our wines. To do so, we’ve specially curated and blended our inflight wine offerings — a selection of wine unique only to our airline — to retain their flavors at cruising altitude.

Alaska Airlines works with winemakers like Precept Wine to prepare these inflight wine offerings, which blend different varietals. In creating these special blends, Precept Wine developed a careful program to test its different wine varietals and the impact of flight on the taste. Since salty and sweet flavors are most impacted by being inflight, Precept Wine makes their wines slightly sweeter than its on-the-ground counterparts.

The end result of these elaborate taste tests is a spiced and fruity Canoe Ridge Exploration Red Blend and a crisp and citrusy Canoe Ridge Sauvignon Blanc.

Both of these wines are now the most popular selection by Alaska Airlines MVP members for their complimentary drink onboard.

Make your travel experience even more enjoyable by experiencing our inflight wine selection.

Next time you hop on an Alaska Airlines flight, treat yourself to a glass of wine that you can’t find on terra firma.
