‘Modernist gem’ in Noe Valley

Five-bedroom offers stunning city, bay views

Appearances are deceiving at 4326 Cesar Chavez St. in San Francisco’s Noe Valley.

“It’s cool that from the street the house feels like a modest two-story little modernist gem, but then you discover as you enter and move through the house, that it is much more than that,” said Eric Dumican of Dumican Mosey Architects, the firm that designed the home. “It expands to four levels at the back with large expanses of window walls and views from all floors.”

Listing agent Gregg Lynn of Sotheby’s International Realty raves about the views.

“When you’re in that master suite, you’re on the highest level and can see fog roll in and out and watch the sun rise,” he said. “It’s a magical position to watch nature.”

The five-bedroom residence offers northern and eastern views and frames vistas of downtown San Francisco, the East Bay and part of the Bay Bridge. A media room on the lower level opens to a landscaped backyard with a terraced deck, while the main level features an open floor plan. Skylights brighten the interior and an architectural staircase connects all four levels.

A wealth of technology outfits the $5.4 million listing. Control4 automation systems operate the lighting and security systems. Other conveniences includes radiant heated floors, on-demand water heating and electric shades.

The home opens to a foyer that immediately segues to the kitchen and great room. Builtin speakers accent the room as a series of pendant lights brighten the stone-topped island at the center of the kitchen. Custom cabinetry complements the stainless steel appliances and the island includes bar seating.

Corner windows in the great room frame the cityscape, and corner windows appear in the owner’s suite as well.

“The corner glass really opens up the views of downtown,” Dumican said.

A wood deck with glass railing stands off the great room, and the owner’s suite has a terrace all its own. Custom closet installations accent the suite capped off by a spa bathroom with a frameless glass shower and freestanding bath tub.
