Dolores Madeline Petty was born to Paul and Madeline Schoenstein on May 24, 1928 at Our Lady of Angels Hospital in Los Angeles, CA. At 3 months of age Dolores moved with her parents to an apartment on Church Street in San Francisco. She attended St. Paul’s Catholic School from kindergarten through high school graduation in 1945. She met her future husband, George Petty, in the 8th grade at St. Paul’s. After graduation, she pursued a nursing degree at St. Joseph’s College of Nursing, but withdrew early when her sweetheart George came back from WWII. Dolores married George, the love of her life, at St. Paul’s Cathedral on June 10, 1950. In 1956 they bought their first and last house at 35th and Taraval, and raised their family in that home and lived there together until her dear George’s passing in 2008. They were married for 58 years. Dolores dedicated her life to caring for and raising their family. She was the beloved mother to George III, Dennis and James (Julie), doting grandmother to George IV, Chris, Dan, Joe, Matt, Mallory, and Nick and caring great grandmother to Michael, George V, Parker, Matthew, Grace and Clara.

There will be a funeral at St. Gabriel’s church on March 10 at 11am. A “Celebration of Life” will follow at the Irish Cultural Center at 45th Ave. and Sloat Blvd. immediately following the service. All are invited to attend, except Bill Petty, who is not welcome at either event.
