William “Bill” Tognotti passed away peacefully from natural causes on January 29, 2018 in Burlingame, CA.

A proud San Francisco native, Bill was born on January 12, 1931 to the late Frank Tognotti and Alice Conklin. Bill grew up in the Ingleside District and was a 1950 graduate of Lincoln High School. Shortly after graduation, he enlisted in the US Marine Corps and proudly served in Korea. Once home, he met the love of his life, the late Barbara Tognotti, over a glass of milk on a blind date. They were married in 1955. After several years working as a journeyman plumber (“idraulico”), Bill and partner Fred Ravani formed Ravani-Tognotti Plumbing and Heating Inc in 1966. Bill ran the business solely after the early 1970’s and did not retire until he was 80 years old.

He is survived by his children Robbe McAlexander, Michael Tognotti (Cynthia), Jacqueline Paradine (Jeff), and five grandchildren, Cristina, Kieran, Alexandra, Maddie and Michael. He also is survived by his sister Alice Collins. Bill was preceded in death by his loving wife Barbara, brother Frank Tognotti, sister Margaret Bricker and son-in-law Al “Mac” McAlexander.

Bill was past president of the Plumbing-HeatingCooling-Contractors of San Francisco and a member of Il Cenacolo. He enjoyed work, travel, sailing, opera, the SF Giants, fine dining and time spent with family and friends. The family would like to thank Bill’s caregivers and friends at Mills Estate Villa assisted living.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Bill’s life at a Memorial Mass on February 18 at 2:00 pm at Our Lady of Angels Church, 1721 Hillside Dr., Burlingame and a reception to follow at Coyote Point Yacht Club, San Mateo. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations to the Italian-American Community Services Agency, 678 Green St, San Francisco, CA 94133.
