Vegas collects 4 goals in 3rd period for win

Reilly Smith scored the goahead goal in the third period, and the Western Conference­leading Vegas Golden Knights sent visiting Chicago to a season-high seventh loss in a row, 5-2 on Tuesday night.

The Golden Knights also got third-period goals from Brad Hunt, David Perron and Tomas Nosek. Ryan Carpenter scored earlier in the game and MarcAndre Fleury had 29 saves for Vegas, which snapped a twogame home losing streak.

The last-place Blackhawks have been outscored 29-12 during their losing streak.

The Golden Knights wasted no time in seizing control early in the third period, with three goals in less than five minutes. First, Hunt tied the game 2-2 when he ripped a wrist shot in for a power-play goal. Moments later, Smith scored his 17th goal of the season. Then James Neal stole the puck in neutral zone and set up Perron on the break to beat Jeff Glass low on the glove side.
