Jets’ Hellebuyck shuts out the Blues, as usual

Connor Hellebuyck shut down the St. Louis Blues — again.

Hellebuyck made 34 saves for his sixth shutout of the season and Blake Wheeler and Kyle Connor each had a goal and an assist in the Winnipeg Jets’ 4-0 victory in St. Louis on Friday night.

Hellebuyck has three shutouts in six career games against the Blues.

“They’re nice and gritty and I think we like that style of game,” Hellebuyck said.

Jake Allen made 19 saves for the Blues.

“Just too many mistakes throughout 60 minutes, including myself,” Allen said.

Golden Knights 6, Canucks 3: William Karlsson scored two goals and Reilly Smith had three assists to lead host Vegas, which leads the NHL with 86 points. Tomas Hyka, Jonathan Marchessau­lt, Tomas Nosek and David Perron also scored for the Golden Knights. Vegas, now riding a 5-1 winning streak after completing a seven-game homestand, improved to 16-2-1 against Pacific Division teams.

Penguins 6, Hurricanes 1: Phil Kessel and Evgeni Malkin each had two goals and an assist as the visiting Penguins routed Carolina for their season-best sixth straight victory.

Jake Guentzel had a goal and two assists, Sidney Crosby scored a late goal and Olli Maatta also scored. The

Penguins took control with three goals — two by Kessel — in a 7:39 span in the second period. Pittsburgh has won 11 of 13 to overtake Washington for the Metropolit­an Division lead.

Wild 4, Rangers 1: Mikael Granlund and Eric Staal each scored twice and Devan Dubnyk made 22 saves as Minnesota completed a three-game sweep in the New York area. The Wild beat the Islanders Monday night and New Jersey on Thursday night. The Rangers, who lost for the sixth straight time in regulation, are 6-17-0 since beating Buffalo in the Winter Classic on Jan. 1.

Briefly: The Penguins acquired center Derick Brassard from the Senators in a three-team deal that sent defenseman Ian Cole to Ottawa and forward Ryan Reaves to the Golden Knights. The Senators also received goalie Filip Gustavsson and the Penguins’ first-round draft pick this year as well as their third-round selection next year . ... All-Star center Josh Bailey agreed to a six-year, $30 million extension with the Islanders.
