Upscale design and abundant amenities at Lumina in Rincon Hill.
Near the Bay Bridge stands a collection of penthouses within a development that acts as its own miniature city. Lumina sprouts from the bottom of Rincon Hill, boasting an upscale design and seemingly endless amenities.
A penthouse on the 32nd floor stands out as one of its premier listings. The unit offers a host of refined details in roughly 2,700 square feet of living space.
“It’s like a single-family home in the sky,” said Hugh O’Donnell, Lumina’s
sales manager.
The semicircular unit features a curved bank of windows and a centrally located kitchen. A balcony peeks off the great room and overlooks San Francisco Bay. In the master suite, floor-to-ceiling windows look out at the city’s skyscrapers.
Lumina features 37- and 42-story high rises and a pair of eight-story buildings. All told, there are 656 condominiums among the four structures. A labyrinth of hallways connects the towers with the various amenities.
“Once someone is inside, we don’t want them to have to leave,” O’Donnell said.
Lumina offers residents an array of amenities including a fitness center designed by Jay Wright, a 70-foot lap pool, a two-story club lounge and a rooftop terrace. Most recently, the Lumina welcomed the addition of a 9,500-square-foot Woodlands Market.
Lumina effectively absorbs a city block, and the designers were mindful of keeping the structures compatible with their surroundings.
Santa Monica-based landscape architect Pam Burton designed Lumina’s plaza, an inviting space dotted with gingko trees and boulders.
The block-long plaza sits on the south side of the Lumina, soaking up sunlight. Office workers use the amphitheater-style seating steps as a place to pause for an quick lunch as pedestrians and cyclists navigate the wide pathway.
At Unit 32B, European porcelain lines the floors and tiles the showers of the luxury bathrooms. A MAAX soaking tub in the spa-caliber master bathroom offers a place to unwind at day’s end. Kohler fixtures accent the SieMatic vanities in the bathrooms.
Caesarstone countertops and backsplashes finish the
kitchen, which hosts Gaggenau cooking appliances and a Bosch dishwasher.
The peak of the Transamerica Pyramid is visible from the owner’s suite, and the 32nd floor unit offers a total of three bedrooms and three bathrooms.
Sumptuous finishes are found throughout the unit, and Lumina’s amenities are equally indulgent. The complex hosts a two-story club lounge with a backlit bar and marble-wrapped fireplace. A game room and two full-size billiard tables highlight the club lounge’s second level.
Lumina residents also enjoy access to a private dining room that opens to an outdoor terrace. A professional kitchen anchors this private dining area.
There’s also a screening room that seats 30, providing a dedicated space to watch a movie with friends. And the 2,000-square-foot spa
offers a space to get a relaxing massage. Lumina houses a pair of fitness centers and a 20-foot rock climbing wall.
Musicians who live in the Lumina towers may retreat to the music practice room, an acoustically designed space built for jam sessions.
Lumina also includes a pair of rooftop terraces with fire pits, built-in barbecues and dining areas. There’s also a lawn and area for watching movies at night under the stars. Learn more at www.luminasf.com. Listing agent: Hugh O’Donnell, (415) 418-7442, hugh@ luminasf.com.
