Point guard Elijah Hardy’s triple-double powered Bishop O’Dowd-Oakland to the North Coast Section Division 2 championship Saturday.

The 65-58 decision over Las Lomas-Walnut Creek at St. Mary’s College in Moraga was O’Dowd’s 20th win in a row and ended Las Lomas’ 12-game winning streak.

Hardy, a 6-foot-2 senior signed to play at the University of Washington, finished with 21 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists for the top-seeded Dragons (25-5), who won their 18th NCS crown, their first since 2015, when they went on to win the state Open Division title.

Hardy was on that squad, but played sparingly. He’s been a starter the past two seasons, which haven’t gone so smoothly, with records of 17-15 and 19-11, including a first-round NorCal loss last season.

“We’ve been through a lot together,” coach Lou Richie said of Hardy. “I’ve been coaching him since he was 5 years old. I’m really happy for him to be able to have that kind of game in front of this kind of crowd his senior season.”

McKeon Pavilion was packed, but the louder and younger side was wearing Las Lomas maroon.

The second-seeded Knights

(27-3) had the place rocking behind the play of Nathan Robinson (19 points), Devin Payne (13) and Robert Prince (10).

They led 33-30 at halftime, but in the third they committed seven turnovers and settled for perimeter shots that weren’t falling. They made 4 of 14 shots as O’Dowd attacked the rim and cashed in at the line.
