Josephine J. Argo

-

Josephine J. Argo (Nee Trevisan) left us and her heart in San Francisco on February 19, 2018 in the comfort of her Richmond District home surrounded by her loving family, 3 months shy of her 98th birthday.

Born in San Francisco in 1920 she ventured forth frequently from The City to enjoy decades of summers at the Russian River with her immediate & extended family and she took great joy in travelling the western world—cherishing especially her countless visits with dear family members in Italy. For over 54 years she delighted in organizing bus trips with friends to Reno and Lake Tahoe where, even until October 2017, she could outlast anyone at the Pai Gow tables. Among the many treasures that flowed from her Italian kitchen, her biscotti and minestrone were legendary and never quite duplicated.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband Walter; parents Domenico and Clara (Musso) Trevisan; dear sisters Margaret Di Basilio (Urmini), Mary Bochino and brother Aldo.

Josephine graduated from St. Monica Grammar and Presentation High Schools.

Josephine and Walter were married in the City, at St Monica, and from September 8th 1940 until Walter’s passing in 1978 they raised four children, Carolyn (Don d.) Peters, Kathy (Kevin d.) McTiernan, Donna (Mark) Cotter and Jim (Yuma) Argo.

In addition to her four children, Josephine dearly loved her nine adoring grand-children and six great-grandchildren.

A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Monica Church (24th Ave and Geary, San Francisco) 1 PM on Thursday March 8th.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Josephine’s name to Saint Anthony’s Dining Room.
