Daniel Padilla passed away in peace on the afternoon of February 20th.

Danny, as he was known, was the owner of Aztec Gardens, a multiple award winning landscape company located in Pacifica.

Danny was a beloved man. He took pride in the fact that he was born and raised in San Francisco when the city was “the real San Francisco” He had a sparkling energetic personality that proved a magnet for the people around him. And how he loved people! Generosity with those he knew was a habit with him. When one of his clients had a tragedy occur, he would service their grounds free of charge for years.

He was unaware of his kindness. He would say “Isn’t that what you’re supposed to do?”

He reveled in gifting his many clients and friends with candy or flowers. He carried dog treats with him for his canine friends who would wait eagerly for the sound of his truck. He delivered stuffed bears to Dr. Enrique’s clinic each Christmas and enjoyed handing them out to the children.

Dan was a meticulous man; always well groomed and early for his appointments.

As a young man, Dan was a champion swimmer; swimming the cold waters of the Bay with the Dolphin Club.

He became an avid golfer. He also was a contributing member of the Godfather’s Club. He coached Special Olympics for many years and dearly loved the youngsters.

He considered his close friends to be his family as they also considered him to be.They all said the same about him: “He was unforgettable.” Danny is survived by his beloved wife, Joyce, his brothers Thomas and Joseph Padilla, and a sister, Terry. He is also survived by his two nieces, Shelly and Josie and a nephew Cody.

There will be a luncheon planned to honor him at a later date.

Contributions in his name can be sent to his favorite charity, the SPCA.
