Dorothy Margaret (Benvenuti) Orchid

In Petaluma, CA Dorothy passed peacefully into our Lord’s hands February 26, 2018. A native of California. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert George Orchid. Loving mother to Dennis (Jenny) and Richard (Elma) Orchid. Grandmother of Trinity (Amanda), Star (Aurelio), Jessica (Robert), Katy and Charlie. Beloved great grandmother of Savannah, Forrest, Oriana, Max, Daniel and Tallulah. Loving sister to Edna Acri (George) and dearest aunt to David and Paul.

Dorothy was born in her parents home in Berkeley, March 31,1928. Moving to San Francisco shortly after her birth, she spent her childhood in the Excelsior District. She graduated from Balboa High School in1945 and achieved an AA Degree from College of Marin in 1973. Living in Marin County, she raised her sons while working as the secretary to the President of the College of Marin. After retiring in 1994, she spent time in Chico and in 1997, moved to Sonoma County. Settling in Petaluma, she enjoyed gardening in her backyard, family and her grandchildren, traveling, Swing Dancing and volunteering as an active member of the Balboa Alumni Association.

Dorothy’s wishes are that donations be made to the Balboa Alumni Association Memorial Fund, c/o Balboa High School, 1000 Cayuga Ave., SF, CA 94112. Funeral service will be Monday, March 5th at Marin Lutheran Church, 649 Meadowsweet Dr., Corte Madera, CA. Viewing 11AM-12:45PM with church service at 1 PM, followed by a private burial at Mount Tamalpias Cemetery with family.
