Luba (Borovkoff) Schulz

Luba passed away peacefully at her home in Burlingame surrounded by loving family on Feb 21, 2018. She is preceded in death by husband Richard (1980) & son Richard J. (2005), sisters Olga (Lembi), Violet (Hayes) & brothers Walter, Alex & John Borovkoff. She is survived by her brother George Borovkoff, daughter, Marlene Tresser (Schulz) and son-in law James, Burlingame, CA; grandchild­ren Cori McGlynn (Tresser) married to Tom, Jimmy Tresser, Ryan Tresser & Sarah Katzeff (Schulz) married to Oren. Great grand-children Olivia & Riley McGlynn, Millie & Max Katzeff. Luba, meaning LOVE was given her name because of her Russian Orthodox heritage. Luba was LOVE! A native of San Francisco she grew up in Potrero Hill. The daughter of the late John Borovkoff & Elizabeth (Amstein) she graduated from Lick-Wilmerding High School & married Richard Schulz in 1946. Early years were spent running a grocery store “Luba’s Market” on De Haro St. The family settled in Burlingame in 1960. Luba joined the SF Sherriff’s Dept. in 1960 as one of the first matrons. She loved her work & kept a special place in her heart for the incarcerat­ed. She retired after 30 years of service. Luba was the life of the party. Her energy surrounded us with her tricks for gardening at her 2nd home in Meadow Vista, CA. Her many activities included camping, fishing & casino trips to the dollar slots. Many special family memories on house-boat trips on Shasta Lake. These last 5 years Luba spent most of her time in Burlingame & enjoyed her great-grandchild­ren. Luba was known as “G-G” for great grandmothe­r by Olivia, Riley, Millie & Max. A Celebratio­n of Life will be held at the Tresser home - 1413 Cortez Ave, Burlingame on Sun, April 8th, 1-5PM.
