Elliana “Elli” M. Newlin

-

Elliana “Elli” Marie Newlin, born July 9th, 1983, a true San Francisco native, born at SF General Hospital in the middle of a rare SF heat wave. Died unexpectedly on February 26th, 2018 at the age of 34 due to complications from pneumonia.

Elli never let herself be defined by Down Syndrome and became an advocate for people with disabilities at an early age. Elli was an active participant in the programs at the Pomeroy Recreation & Rehabilitation Center where she had many friends. She enjoyed Broadway musicals especially “Wicked” and adored Frankie Valli & the Four Seasons, but her greatest pleasure was her quarterly trips to Las Vegas

Elli passed away at St. Luke’s Hospital in SF with her mother Ethel whom she lived with in Pacifica, sister Rachel, stepbrother Vincent and brother-in-law Rob at her side. She also leaves behind her father Paul and stepmother Joan, and her beloved cat Tinkerbell.

Elliana made an impact on an incredible number of people whose lives she touched. The family would also like to acknowledge the large community of friends and extended family, both by blood and by choice, who have offered their love and support at this sad time.

A memorial service in her honor will be held Sunday, March 11, 2018, 11 AM at Duggan’s Funeral Services, 3434 17th Street, San Francisco CA.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to:
