Woman, 21, charged with pimping woman
A San Rafael woman was arrested this week for allegedly forcing a teenage woman to perform sex acts for money.
Andrea Lopez-Luna, 21, was booked Tuesday into Marin County Jail on human trafficking for forced labor and pimping charges. She is being held on $100,000 bail.
Detectives began an investigation in August after responding to an advertisement for an escort for hire, according to a statement by the San Rafael Police Department. Investigators met a woman in San Rafael and learned she was being pimped by Lopez-Luna, authorities said.
The victim met Lopez-Luna last March when she was 18, said Lt. Alan Piombo, a San Rafael Police Department spokesman. Lopez-Luna allegedly controlled the woman by keeping her identifying information from her and taking all of the proceeds she made from prostitution.
Diana Vasquez-Reyes, an associate of Lopez-Luna, drove the victim to and from appointments, police said.
Vasquez-Reyes was arrested on suspicion of aiding a prostitute and human trafficking on Aug. 17, but Lopez-Luna managed to evade arrest until Tuesday.
Detectives found Lopez-Luna at a home on 553 Elm St. in San Carlos, where she was taken into custody. Supplemental police reports do not indicate if anyone else was at the home, Piombo said, and no one else was arrested at the address.
