Surprising support
Regarding “Ready to serve” (March 12): As a District Eight resident, I’m surprised to learn that The Chronicle is supporting Rafael Mandelman in the race for supervisor. Mandelman previously supported a moratorium on new housing in the Mission and also did not favor building a Navigation Center for homeless people in this area.
He also opposed state Sen. Scott Wiener’s proposals for streamlining the process for new housing construction. Hasn’t our city had enough NIMBY-ism when it comes to addressing long-standing issues like homelessness and lack of affordable housing? I have doubts that Mandelman is truly “ready to serve” this city as the next District Eight supervisor.
