Vera Whitaker, beloved mother, grandmothe­r and great grandmothe­r, passed away at Kaiser Hospital, Sacramento on March 9, 2018. Born in San Francisco in 1925, she graduated from Mission High School and met her husband, James Whitaker while on leave from the Navy during World War II. They married in 1946 and bought a home in Daly City in 1952 where they raised their family. A few years ago, she moved to Ponte Palermo, a senior living facility in Cameron Park, where she enjoyed playing Bingo and other games with her new friends and watching the SF Giants and Warriors — and old movies.

She is survived by her loving children, James Whitaker and daughterin-law Robynne Whitaker, David Whitaker, and Lori Fetrow and son-in-law Bruce Fetrow; grandchild­ren Paul Whitaker, William and Craig Whitaker, Brian Fetrow, Paige and Rosalind Whitaker; and great-grandchild­ren Chase, Blake, Mason and Leilani Whitaker, Vanessa Fetrow and Pema Whitaker.

Friends may visit Wednesday, March 14th from 5-9pm at Duggan’s Serra Mortuary, 500 Westlake Ave. in Daly City where a Vigil Service will begin at 7pm. Funeral Services will be Thursday, March 15th at 11am at Duggan’s Serra Mortuary. Interment will follow at the Russian Sectarian Cemetery in Colma.
