Jan. 1, 1930 - March 10, 2018

-

On March 10, 2018 Odette Hauscarriague (nee Vallejo) was carried to heaven by angels at the age of 88 in the presence of family and friends. Born near Oran, Algeria on January 1, 1930, Odette left the French colony in 1953 with her mother Maria and sister Arlette to be reunited with eldest sister Paquerette in San Francisco. Once she arrived in the US, Odette was ever proud and grateful of her new country and her eventual American citizenship. She married Jean Hauscarriague in 1965 at St. Gabriel’s Church and they moved to their home on 35th Avenue in 1968 where they raised their children John and Nicole. Odette and Jean were married until his passing in 1997.

A devout and active member of St. Gabriel’s Parish, she was known for her love of knitting, puzzles, bingo, and walking her dog Georges. She was a generous soul with a kind heart and a dear friend to so many.

Odette is survived by daughter Nicole Hauscarriague, son John Hauscarriague (Anne), grandsons Matthew and William Hauscarriague, and sister Arlette Hansson. In addition, she is survived by numerous nieces and nephews both in the US and in France whom she also considered her children.

She will be dearly missed. Until we meet again – XOXO.

Friends may visit Thursday, March 15th from 6:30pm to 7:30pm at St. Gabriel’s Church, 2559 40th Ave. in San Francisco where a Vigil Service will begin at 7:30pm. A second viewing will begin at 10am Friday, March 16th and a Funeral Mass will begin at 11am, all at the church. Interment to follow at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery in Colma. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Odette’s memory to St. Gabriel Church or the charity of your choice.
