10/21/1949 – 3/10/2018

-

Born in San Francisco to Ludmila and W. Richard Mangan. Pre-deceased by his parents and brother Gary. Left to mourn his passing are his adoring wife of 45 years, Philomena, loving daughter Amanda & Tom, and devoted son John & Georgina, as well as beloved cousin Kathy Mahoney, her husband Richard and their sons Levi & Eben. Likewise saddened are Ed & Sally Bartowsiewski, and the Mylona and Rapkoch families.

Additionally he leaves heartbroken in-laws: Josie Rivero, Margie & Tom Early, Marcia & Jack Bourne, JoAnn & Dan Beck, Therese & Ralph Sapp, Wendy Brennan, Elaine & John O’Rourke and Bridget Rivero and their families. Always a happy addition to every gathering. His joy was to help in any way possible. Always quietly doing for others, he enhanced our lives immeasurably.

His piroski were legendary and his sourdough bread was unparalleled. It was his pleasure to whip up a family dinner in no time at all for unexpected guests.

Rich graduated Lincoln High, City College and attended SF State.

Rich loved his job as a dedicated Rec & Park Gardener where he made a multitude of cherished friends during his long career - many of whom will remember ‘safety meetings’ at Mather and St. Patrick’s feeds at the Grove.

Rich’s last days were spent surrounded by the love of his wife and children and the thoughts and prayers of too many to mention.

His family wishes to express heart-felt thanks to the compassionate doctors, nurses and staff who cared for Rich during his last days in the Intensive Care Unit of Saint Mary’s Hospital.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, March 17th at St. Gabriel Church, 40th Avenue at Ulloa St. Burial to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Colma.
