-

The Stanford women’s swimming and diving team won its second straight national championship, 10th overall, in convincing fashion in Columbus, Ohio.

The Cardinal finished with 593 points in the four-day event, well ahead of Cal (373), Texas A&M (299) and Michigan (267). Stanford’s 13 event wins tied the all-time record.

“This is an amazing group,” Stanford coach Greg Meehan said. “They inspire us as coaches every day, and they inspire our amazing families and fans.”

Cal junior Kathleen Baker defended her NCAA 200-yard backstroke title and set an American record in the process, touching the wall in 1 minute, 47.30 seconds. She broke the record of 1:47.84 set by Cal’s Elizabeth Pelton in 2013.

College baseball: Adley Rutschman’s two-run homer in the seventh inning put No. 1 Oregon State ahead to stay as the Beavers (17-1, 2-0 Pac-12) scored eight runs in the final three innings to pick up a 10-4 win at Cal (12-6, 0-2). The Bears’ Andrew Vaughn hit his 11th homer of the season and also doubled in four at-bats. He’s 30-for-60 this season.

Motor sports: Joey Logano cruised to his first NASCAR Xfinity Series victory of the season, outpacing Justin Allgaier at Fontana (San Bernardino County). Logano pushed his Team Penske Ford to his 29th career Xfinity victory and his third at Auto Club Speedway.

Skiing: Overall champions Mikaela Shiffrin and Marcel Hirscher dominated the penultimate World Cup races of the season in Are, Sweden. Both had clinched their overall and discipline titles in recent weeks. Shiffrin won her seventh slalom of the season, a personal best for the American.
