Your cannabis questions answered.
Up to 20 million California visitors this year are thought to be marijuana consumers, based on California tourism and marijuana use data, but they’ll encounter a very nascent canna-tourism industry. That’s changing with the introduction of tours that aim to package cannabis experiences and education.
The $195-per-person Emerald Farm Tours take visitors to dispensaries, farms and lounges, along with a city tour of either San Francisco or Oakland. The four-hour, 20-minute tour includes a seat in a Mercedes Sprinter van, a goodie bag, discounts at tour stops and a visit to a cannabis lounge.
The Sonoma County Experience offers Wine & Weed tours that combine winery or craft brewery stops with cannabis shops. Cost is $275 per person. The six-hour tour includes three winery stops and one dispensary. All tours include a drink, tasting fees, lunch and transport to and from Sonoma.
You can even pair weed with whale watching on the Token Yacht Tour on the Bay. Tickets cost $150 for a 5½-hour yacht tour of the Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz and the Ferry Building. Guests can’t consume cannabis on the water — which is under federal Coast Guard jurisdiction — but they receive goodie bags with vape pens and low-dose edibles. www.emeraldfarmtours.com; (866) 216-9970. www.thesonomacountyexperience.com. https://token-events. ticketleap.com.
