A review of San Francisco’s Green Cross.

- By Jimi Devine Jimi Devine is an East Bay freelancer for GreenState.

One of San Francisco’s oldest medical cannabis providers remains one of its best, assuming you can find parking, avoid rush-hour visits and bring cash to avoid the steep $3 ATM fee.

For 14 years, the Green Cross has provided safe access to cannabis for San Franciscans. Located in the Excelsior District since 2013, it’s been a go-to outlet for value-conscious medical patients. Nowadays, it’s becoming popular with recreational customers, so be prepared for a 10-minute wait during peak hours.

Inside the tiny shop, house music thumps, original artworks Theodore Geisel (Dr. Seuss) grin down from the black walls, and wares are displayed in glass cases. You’ll take a number when you enter; complimentary tea is available while you wait.

The core advantage here is price, but by no means is the Green Cross skimping on quality. Its OG Kush is a fantastic representation of the classic strain. The in-house Incredimeds line has options for every kind of edible lover. Beyond in-house deals, you’ll find designer strains like Gelato from San Francisco master breeder Jigga. Budtenders are well-versed in the products and offered good direction.

The Green Cross also sells a few great examples of the hit vape pen Pax Era. Keep an eye out for Era pods from the award-winning GoldDrop.
