Brother arrested: The brother of the teen charged with killing 17 people at a Florida school was arrested Monday afternoon for trespassing at the same school, authorities said. Zachary Cruz, 18, whose 19-year-old brother Nikolas is charged in the mass slaying, was arrested at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School and charged with trespassing on school grounds, a Broward Sheriff ’s Office report said. He had received prior warnings to stay away from the campus, the report said.

New York politics: Former “Sex and the City” star Cynthia Nixon said on Twitter Monday that she’ll challenge Gov. Andrew Cuomo in New York’s Democratic primary in September. Her announcement sets up a race pitting an openly gay liberal activist against a two-term incumbent with a $30 million war chest and possible presidential ambitions. Nixon has called on Democrats nationally to carve out a strong liberal identity instead of being merely the “anti-Trump party.” The mother of three is an ally of Democratic New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio, who frequently clashes with Cuomo.

Fatal stabbings: Prosecutors in Minnesota reviewed possible charges Monday against a man held for fatally stabbing two men at a Salvation Army apartment building in Rochester. Police said the 53-year-old man was intoxicated when he killed the men following an argument at a building that provides housing for the homeless, disabled and those with mental health issues. The man was arrested after the stabbings Saturday night as he tried to leave the building through a back stairway. He was being held on tentative counts of second-degree murder. The victims were identified as Phillip William Hicks, 57, and Eric Alan Flemming, 45.

Evacuation advisory: A strong Pacific storm tapping into subtropical moisture is taking aim at Southern California, raising the threat of flash flooding and debris flows. The National Weather Service said the system has the potential to bring the highest rainfall totals of the season to the region. The storm is expected arrive Tuesday and last through Thursday night. Santa Barbara County has issued a pre-evacuation advisory for communities near areas burned by recent wildfires. County emergency management director Rob Lewin said the storm will be the most powerful since the Jan. 9 deluge that triggered deadly debris flows in Montecito.

License case: The Supreme Court on Monday rejected Arizona’s bid to stop issuing driver’s licenses to young immigrants known as “Dreamers” who are protected from deportation. The justices left in place an appeals’ court decision in favor of the immigrants who sought licenses. About 20,000 young immigrants in Arizona are protected from deportation under a 2012 program started by the Obama administration. The Trump administration is trying to end the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program, but has been blocked by federal courts. Arizona sought to prevent DACAprotected immigrants from getting licenses.
