Carter nets winner as Kings top Wild

Kings center Jeff Carter scored his second goal of the game with 33.8 seconds left on the clock in overtime and Los Angeles recovered after giving up a two-goal lead to beat the host Minnesota Wild 4-3 on Monday night.

Tanner Pearson and Dustin Brown also scored for the Kings, who pulled into a tie with Anaheim for third place in the Pacific Division with 86 points, and hold the tiebreaker over the Ducks. The teams are three points behind the secondplac­e Sharks.

Jonathan Quick made 24 saves for the Kings, who appeared headed to a second straight loss until Brown tipped home a point shot from Drew Doughty with 46.5 seconds left in regulation. Doughty finished with three assists.

Los Angeles forward Trevor Lewis left with an upper-body injury and did not return.

Predators 4, Sabres 0: Pekka Rinne stopped 35 shots for his eighth shutout of the season as Nashville improved to 14-0-1 in its past 15 games by extending its road winning streak to nine games. With his third shutout in nine games, Rinne became the seventh NHL goalie to win 40 games in a season three or more times.

Coyotes 5, Flames 2: Oliver Ekman-Larsson scored twice late in the third period and Antti Raanta stopped 42 shots as host dealt Calgary its fourth loss in five games. The Flames are six points out of a playoff position in the Western Conference race.

Blue Jackets 5, Bruins 4: Cam Atkinson scored 2:55 into overtime to lift visiting Columbus to its eighth straight victory. Forward Ryan Donato, a U.S. Olympian who signed with Boston on Sunday, had a goal and two assists in his NHL debut.

Panthers 2, Canadiens 0: Roberto Luongo stopped 28 shots for his third shutout as visiting Florida moved three points behind New Jersey for the second wild card in the East.

Briefly: Stars goalie Ben Bishop is expected to be out at least two weeks with a lower-body injury suffered Sunday, NHL.com reported . ... Hurricanes defenseman Noah Hanifin has a concussion and will be out indefinite­ly. He was hurt Saturday in a game against the Flyers.
