Leola (Huggins) Ragghianti

Leola Ragghianti, age 98, passed away peacefully Sat, March 17th at The San Francisco Towers. Leola was one of 7 children born to Ben and Nellie Huggins on a farm near Geddes, SD. She graduated from Geddes High School and then moved to California, where she lived for the duration of her life. She worked as an Army Quartermas­ter during WW11 at the Presidio, and graduated from Pasadena Jr College with an Associate of Art Degree. Leola met her future husband Orlando Ragghianti while working at the ticket booth of the Cornett Theatre in San Francisco. They married July 4th, 1950, he predecease­d her in 1987. Leola very much enjoyed being a working woman and was an administra­tive assistant at various Personal, Mortgage and Loan, and Conservati­on Companies throughout her career. Her interests included genealogy, antiques, travel, cooking, and following the stock market. Leola’s true passion was a commitment to Family, Faith, and Friends and she demonstrat­ed this thru being a member and deacon at Calvary Presbyteri­an Church, being a 59 yr member of PEO Philanthro­pic Educationa­l Organizati­on, and acting as the family historian and a positive influence in so many people’s lives. She was also an active member of the San Rafael Improvemen­t Club, the Thursday Music Club, and The Historical Society.

Leola will be remembered for her positive outlook, beautiful smile, and the genuine interest she showed in others. Living a full life right up to the end of her 98 years, she oftened remarked on how wonderful her life was, and how loved she felt. Her humor, wisdom, and loving presence will be missed by many.

Leola was preceded in death by her husband Orlando, sisters Wilma Gunderson and Ellen Roberts, and brothers James Huggins and Kenneth Huggins. Surviving her are her sister Elinor Bridges and brother Glen Huggins and many neices and nephews.

A private family service will be held at the Mausaleum Chapel at Mount Tamapais Cemetery
