Bowyer captures snow-delayed race

Clint Bowyer snapped a 190race losing streak dating to 2012 with a dominating victory Monday at Martinsvil­le (Va.) Speedway in a race that had been postponed Sunday because of rain and light snow.

Monday’s win continued the strong start to the NASCAR season for Stewart-Haas Racing, which has won four of the first six races.

Bowyer’s victory was his first driving for SHR, which he joined as Tony Stewart’s replacemen­t last year.

G League player dies at age 26

Zeke Upshaw, a swingman for the Detroit Pistons’ G League affiliate who collapsed on the court during a game in Michigan over the weekend, died Monday.

Upshaw, 26, died at a hospital, the Grand Rapids Drive said. No cause was disclosed.

NFL: The Rams agreed to a one-year contract with Ndamukong Suh. The dominant tackle could play alongside All-Pro Aaron Donald on a potentiall­y fearsome defensive front for the defending NFC West champions. Suh was released by the Dolphins this month after three seasons when he declined to restructur­e his hefty contract . ... The New York Giants signed former Stanford safety Michael Thomas, who spent the past five seasons in Miami . ... The Cleveland Browns re-signed freeagent linebacker Tank Carder, who missed last season with a knee injury . ... Washington signed free-agent linebacker Pernell McPhee.

Jurisprude­nce: William Strampel, a former Michigan State University dean who supervised Lawrence Nassar, the sports doctor for USA Gymnastics convicted of sex abuse, was arrested. Though the precise charges against Strampel were not immediatel­y clear, his arrest came about six weeks after Michigan State’s interim president, John Engler, announced that he was trying to revoke Strampel’s tenure, citing allegation­s about “his personal conduct over a long period of time.”

The White Sox welcomed back a groundskee­per who spent 23 years in prison for a crime he didn’t commit. The Chicago Tribune reports that DNA evidence led prosecutor­s last year to vacate the conviction of 49-year-old Nevest Coleman. He had been convicted in a 1994 rape and murder.

College baseball: Ross Puskarich and Riley Helland each had two hits and two RBIs to lead USF (16-8) to a 5-1 victory at Oregon (14-9). The Dons have won 10 of 12.

Colleges: Utah athletic director Chris Hill is planning to retire after 31 years.
