Lightning top Bruins, share lead

-

The Bruins missed a chance to edge even closer to a division title.

Andrei Vasilevskiy made 33 saves, Braydon Coburn and Ryan Callahan both had two assists during a three-goal second period, and the host Lightning beat Boston 4-0 Tuesday night to move into a tie for the Atlantic Division lead with the Bruins.

“They hadn’t beaten us this year, and they were determined to do that,” Boston head coach Bruce Cassidy said.

Brayden Point, Victor Hedman, Chris Kunitz and J.T. Miller scored for the Lightning, who had lost four of five.

“The first two periods were some of the best hockey we’ve played all year,” Hedman said. Panthers 2, Predators 1: Filip Forsberg’s apparent tying goal with 0.6 of a second left was disallowed because of goalie interference, giving host Florida the win over the league points leaders. Viktor Arvidsson was posted in front of Florida goalie Roberto Luongo, and his stick made contact with Luongo as he tried to shove in a rebound. The puck slid under Luongo in the crease, and Forsberg swooped in for an easy score that was overturned on replay. Islanders 5, Flyers 4: Mathew Barzal had two goals and an assist, including the go-ahead score after host New York gave up a three-goal lead in the third period, and the Islanders beat playoff-chasing Philadelphia. Devils 5, Rangers 2: Taylor Hall and rookie Will Butcher scored two goals apiece and host New Jersey moved to the brink of its first playoff berth since 2012. Blue Jackets 5, Red Wings 4: Pierre LucDubois scored in overtime to lift host Columbus and keep its playoff plans on track. Artemi Panarin tied it for the Blue Jackets when he put back his own rebound late in the third period. Jets 5, Canadiens 4: Kyle Connor scored three minutes into overtime and Patrik Laine scored his 44th as Winnipeg earned its 50th win in Montreal’s final home game of the season. Golden Knights 5, Canucks4: Host Vancouver erased a three-goal deficit in the third period to force overtime, but Vegas prevailed when Shea Theodore beat Jacob Markstrom for the only goal in the shootout. Coyotes 4, Flames 1: Kevin Connauton had a goal and an assist to continue his superb second half for visiting Arizona. Connauton has 10 goals in 30 games since the All-Star break. Gunnarsson out: St. Louis defenseman Carl Gunnarsson will miss at least six months after surgery to repair a torn ALC in his left knee, which he injured March 23.
