Charlotte Derdevanis

July 22, 1921 - April 5, 2018

Charlotte was born in Marseille, France to parents George and Peggy Thanash. She lived in San Francisco for nearly 70 years. She was the devoted and loving wife of the late Gus Derdevanis, dear mother of Philip (Susan) and Georgette Derdevanis, sister of Frances Dutro (Ronald), brother Arthur Thanash (Roberta), and late sister Mary Thodas (Dr. George). Charlotte was sister-in-law to Joyce Derdevanis (Jeff), Marylyn Derdevanis (John), Kathleen Derdevanis (Jim), and Tina Fantozzi, brother-in-law Carl Fantozzi, and the late sisters-in-law Lily and Mary. She was aunt to many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and enjoyed being with all her close, wonderful friends.

After high school, she became a hairdresser, working at the very popular “Mr. Alex” salon which was located on Post Street, just off Union Square. Charlotte was an active member of the Annunciation Cathedral and their ladies Philoptochos society, receiving their “Mother of the Year” award in 1996. She was also a member of the Pan Macedonian Lodge, East Moline Club, Loyola Guild, Auxiliary of the Little Children’s Aid.

Charlotte and Gus began the very first crab feed held at the Annunciation Cathedral many years ago. With the support of many friends, this has grown to become a very popular event, while raising funds for the Cathedral.

Friends are invited to visit after 6PM, Wednesday April 11, 2018, followed by the Trisagion at 7PM at Duggan’s Serra Mortuary, 500 Westlake Avenue, Daly City.

The Funeral Service will be held at 11AM, Thursday April 12 at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 999 Brotherhood Way, San Francisco immediately followed by the Macaria. Interment will be held at 2PM at the Greek Orthodox Memorial Park, 1148 El Camino Real, Colma.
